Hola,
Just wondering if this guy posts frequently on Swaylocks…
Hahaha!! No, that’s big Bruce DeSoto from Makaha… Bruce is a really cool guy! This is me from a little day at Haleiwa…
when did bruce dye his hair orange?
He’s a lttle too old to be going through his midlife crisis…
Carvenalu
what’s a 12’ Munoz going for now-a-days if you can find one…
Uncle Grant Kauhane told me once that “Ants” Guerrero gave him a woodie version for free…
I’m looking for a good combo standup tandem board to teach my friends kids when they come over for vacation…
I head from Rodney Nakasato that the Munoz design is the best turning ultra big board in the entire Surtech lineup…
Must be expensive…
Standup is just taking off here…
Kind of weird…
on one hand you got all the hydroplaners towing
on the ohther hand you got all these standup paddle guys showing up…
The guys here really like to go “extreme”

Uncle Bruces nickname in the family is Nohea…dont tell him I said that…he might not let me surf Makaha anymore.
I stand corrected…
that is nohea desoto…
somehow my monitor made is look like the top o his head was orange…
I wonder how many stand up paddle surfers there are since buff’s contest made it a regular segment…
There are quite a few paddle surfers in the water now at Makaha. I saw at least 5 the last time I was there.

That’s a very generous gift. The woody version is a minimum $1000. That shows the love of the bruddahs… I had one but just sold it to a friend very cheap. I picked up 2 new ones and 1 used one of the regular epoxy Surftech model. Now I can break 2 before I start having to scramble for another… Haha! I ran an ad in the paper and that’s how I got the used one. 2 weeks, only one call. I bought it on the spot. I never thought I’d ever say this but they are so worth it! They are very hard to get!!! They’re not cheap. They cost $800 to 900 bucks a shot and are ALWAYS out of stock. Sh*t, so far I bought 4 of them! The best all around fun machine I have ever owned. Now the next step is to make one better… I have 3 boards to hold me over till I get it right…
I don’t stand on mine anymore. I think the short paddle is way more fun… The short paddle allows me to do some pretty fun things like control the board in the tube among other things. I like to stay low and low key… Just preference though… I’m sure guys like Brian Keaulana and Bonga do just fine in heavy waves with their Stand-Ups…
Troy, if you go to the link Neira put in, there are loads of pictures of guys riding big boards, young and old. This one up top is a monster board, just look how wide that thing is!
I am in the process of glassing my tandem, just putting on the rail bands/gloves before doing the lams. Going to be running at 12.6, 19-26.5-15, 5 thick. Putting the gloves on to protect the rails against knocks from kayakers and paddle.
Carve: That paddle of yours, how long is it? Saw a carbon paddle , 142cm long, on ebay here for £37, about US$60 a week ago, is that similar to what you were talking about on another thread??

My paddle is 4 feet from tip to tip. I’ve went thru quite a few till I found a certain blade that really does what I want. I’ve really been able to narrow things down to how I like it… Only now am I beginning to surf how I want after 3 months of tweaking fins, paddles, boards… This combination rocks!!!
Howzit oneula, Next time you see Rodney tell him Hi from Mark Sauaen and Wildog. He lived here for quite a while before moving to Oahu and was always a finalist in the Pine Trees LongBoard Classic Contest. Great long boarder and a great person also.Aloha,Kokua
