Chamber stringers and sticks or just sticks

I've perused the archives and have not found anything definitive on the treatement of stringers with respect to chambering.  I realize chambering them will reduce the final weight al beit minimally, but is this approach wise.  I'm still wrapping my mind around my first build and working through things on paper first.  Thank you in advance for responses.  Diggitmisser.

Just how big of a stringer are you looking at? Guys chamber 1 1/2" thick stringers, but anything less than that, what’s the need?

You need longitudinal stiffness, and torsional stiffness as well. Sounds like a world of diminishing returns with even a 3/4" stringer. I don’t see the gain.

Depending on the chambering technique, lightness is not the only benefit.    I've chambered 3/4 inch RW before, with excellent results.

I was thinking 1/4" stringers as accent pieces. Something dark to contrast with the fir.

1/4" stringers could be inlays to make it easier.

B.T., Results being loss of weight? Flex?

T,

That's why I hang around you guys.  It never would occur to me to have done that.  Having difficulty getting my .brd file into pdf format to print "banner" rocker and template.  Any help most welcomed.
