Hi everyone, firstimer as a writer but been reading your threads for a few years now. I am an amateur board builder with about 30 boards under my belt. All epoxys and most of them sandwich construction as I come from a windsurfing background.
Got a couple questions itching my brain regarding chanels design and tail kick. I am about to shape and build a performance quad groveler (5'6'' X 19.25'') for unperfect mushy to decent waves waist to head high. I want something that glides well through flat spots but can turn tight of the back foot.
First I was considering to use wing to produce a prononced hip to loosen up the quad. As far as bottom contour goes, I feel ready to experiment with my first chanels.
To achieve the desired performance I am wondering if I should go with a pronouced tail kick with chanels that cut through the curve (to create a flatter tail curve in the chanels) or with a flatter tail rocker with chanels that go gradually deeper toward the tail (to create more rocker in the chanels).
Does anyone here had experimented with these options or had riders feedbacks about that?
Thanks for enlighting me!
Olivier
