Just a thought, but I have never shaped a six channel bottom board before. I would like to shape a standard 6’2" shortboard with six channels though the fins. Any and all suggestions are welcome on how to do it (the channels) . The dimensions are a mystery to me as far as spacing, as is shaping procedure, and which tool (hand planer?). Much appreciated.

This is because is you plan on having the channels exit the plan shape or blend out before the edge. If the channels exit the plan shape, then finsh the rails after the channels are in. Once the fin placement is established, lay out your channels, do this carefully with a soft dark pencil. Most shapers have the channels follow the toe in of the fins. Are you doing glass ons or boxes? Run several pieces of masking tape on top of each other along the pencil marks, this is your “straight edge” for keeping the channels from getting away from youse my sander to remove the meat of the foam, but for you just use sanding blocks. Make a block with thr radius that you like and glue sandpaper to it, start away from the tape until you have some depth, then clean up to the tape edge. When I start the next channel, I tape over the lip of the previous one to keep from destroying it. Go slowly and it will fall into place.
Thank you.>>> Rob, the first thing you want to do is lay out the fin placement, > secondly, have you finished the rails?
