A window of time just opened up for me so Im thinking of taking a last minute trip to Indo. Ive never used priceline before. Have any of you guys got substantially discounted tickets from them? How did it work out? Ive never come across anyone that has used them…so I thought I would ask here.
i’ve used priceline several times for rental cars and hotels, but never for flights…
they have always been good to me though
for example – orbitz / expedia pricing cars at $30+ a day for the cheapest, and scoring PL deal for $12 day.
i think with car rentals there is still some leeway for you to cancel. with hotels and flights, once you click ‘name your price’ there is no going back (unless they reject your offer)
I think if they reject it, they will give you another chance to raise your price a bit and try again…
good luck and have fun!
never doubt the shat.
run your quote on Kayak.com–it works it up on Priceline simultaneously. Cheapoair.com is good too
I had a delayed flight which turned out the be the last flight into that airport that night. I was waiting in line for my Hertz rental car. The lady standing behind me was on the phone with Budget rental car talking to them becasue the Budget desk was closed. When she got off the phone she said to her son, “they said that since I booked it throught priceline they did not have to wait for me, if I had booked it thru them they would have waited”. Just one thing to think about.
I have always booked my flights thru the airlines. I found I could get just as good a price thru them, that is if I did not what to wait around an airport for 12 hours to make a 6 hour flight. Also make sure you check on bagage, some airlines will not take surfboards.
Kayak and Priceline route your click through to the airline’s booking engine usually.
Rental cars are a rip, and I work with a guy who told me a lot of stuff about Enterprise (where he used to work) the other day that would make your blood boil.
