Hey i’ve made a surfboard in school and i was wondering what you thought of my logo, it would be good feedback.Pictures are attached
Russ-
First board?!?! That board looks SICK. Clean outline, nice rails, symmetrical, good looking glass job. How did you do the paint job? Ive seen some people get that effect using liquid soap and spray paint over the glass job.
I love the logo as well.
I like it. I do blind contours of my hand all the time in class. It is usually more or less that pose, looks good.
Great job russ
I saw some of the paint shots on another thread. What kind of clear coat did you go over the paint with?
Like the logo too. Very “earthy”
Nice!
I like the concept, and the symbolic statement. A little expressionistic yet primitive.
I’d like to see it without the lettering, it seems to distract. The crown is out of place. Maybe seperate the two - think Channel Islands. The name isn’t on the logo.
well, obviously your a noob xD and i was going to leave it without writing but my teacher told me to put it there
yeh i used fairy liquid to do the little lines then sprayed over it, for the light green outlines i put more fairy on then sprayed over in dark green. for the stars i just used thin masking tape and i outlined in blue spray
Sorry russ, ive got no clue what fairy liquid is. I hope its some sort of soap… but its got an awfully dirty sound to it. Anyway did you clear coat or gloss coat over eveything?
yeh its a brand name, its like a thick liquid soap, and yeh i speed coated it
the bottom is roll to vee and its sick
speedcoat
to see the spraying processes go to “mini longboard” on the forums and head straight to the bottom
- Fee-fi-fo-fum!
- I smell the blood of an Englishman.
- BTW, is there any chance your board looks like a wet pickle?

Hi Russ -
Fantastic first board!
I checked the other thread that shows the spraying steps. The spray was done over the sanded hotcoat, correct? If I may, what type of paint was used? I’ve used water based paint under the lamination coat. What’s puzzling me is how you managed to wash off the stencil stuff without messing up the paint.
Again, that board looks like a keeper.
the paint was sprayed onto the sanded fibreglass BEFORE the speedcoat was added.to do the spray you just put the stars on first, make some cool patterns with the fairy liquid, spray over in the lighter green, wait to dry (5-10 minutes) then add some more fairy liquid(to end up with light green and white lines) then spray agains in darker green. then i sprayed the stars with a blue. the spraypaint cans i used were just normal ones for repairs on cars (i can attach a picture if you want)
