child birth

first you are ‘inseminated’ by an idea for a board. then, you carry the idea around in you for a while, the ‘gestation period’ then, in a pre-described amount of time that depends on your ‘species’ you find yourself in the ‘delivery room’ with all of your ‘instruments’. about 3/4 of the way through delivery (usually while glassing) the pain is so great you make a promise to yourself never to get ‘knocked-up’ with an idea again. then the ‘baby’ is born, you send a swaylock’s ‘card’ to your friends around the country, and you prepare for the baptism. then’ in a pre-described amount of time, that depends on your ‘species’ you get knocked up again. i’m thinking of having my tubes tied. either that or i’m on my way to ‘welfare mother’ status. g’day

That would make me the parent of around 300 kids. Before you know it I’ll be driving a mini-van. Most of my kids leave the nest around 3 weeks. Some of them come back from time to time for a little TLC, then off again they go. Those darn sur… I mean kids!

Ramon: ‘cmon lets see the pictures of the little tyke. (wasn’t this one going to be a big one?) I made it all summer without plugging my planer in, almost. I sanded the hotcoats on 2 boards last night when I got home, the latest hatchlings. Don’t know what got into me, must have been the red wine I had while watching Jim Phillips shaping on TV, I let my guard down. These two don’t look like they had the same father though, one is kinda of short and stumpy with twin tails and fins and the other is an elegant looking 7’9" single fin. I know you, you always say you’re going to quit after you finish one. Your wife will forgive you…eventually. Fall season is headed our way and so is the surf.
