Both fins are foiled, but fairly thin fiberglass. The forward fin is lined up outside the rear fin. It has very little (3/4") tail rocker and about 3 3/4" N rocker. Tom>>> Tom - Thanks for the pics. It looks as if the rear fin is foiled on both > sides. Is this correct? How about the front fins?
well, like i said i’ve only been riding for him for about a month or so > now, so i haven’t played around with all of his boards yet (but if i had > the $$$, i would buy everything he makes). anyhoo, right now i’m riding a > 9’0 Type O+ and i absolutely love it. my type-o has a 9inch greenough flex > fin, it makes an unusual but very cool ride. i also have a 9’4 heavy > noserider coming, and i’d like to order a twin fish or a bonzer shortie > for my next board. its so hard to decide… i want to try them all! -steve As Steve states, Toby can shape any type of board and has a clear understanding of what makes them work. He’s one of a handful of shapers that knows the nuances of the Lis Style fish, what makes it work and what does not. The fin set up on Wave Carver’s board and in the photos of Tom S.'s board are a valid “outside the box " fin set up that really works with that plan shape. Steve - I hear what you’re saying - there’s so many cool boards out there, I just wish I had the time & $$ to ride them all. Your 9’ sounds cool, I’m going to try one of those flex fins on an old G & S single fin I’ve rescued from the dumpster. TS - thanks for the pictures and the background on your board, it looks a lot like mine. I enjoyed hearing how you just kinda stumbled on to it, like I did. Mine was in a used board rack at my local surf shop and I saw it as soon as I walked in. I asked the guys how long it had been there and they just shrugged and said “couple weeks”. It had a LOW price and was in good shape and I was stunned that no one else had bought it. I guess most people think that they should ride what every one else does, or what the guys on the WTC ride. Anyway, I couldn’t afford it but I whipped out the plastic and got it anyway. Now when I glide through the flat spots and connect the sections all the way to the beach, someone will come up to me and ask “what kind of board is that?” Its my favorite board. Thanks to everyone for the info on Toby and board. Right now the local buoy is at six feet and 13 seconds and I believe it time to put the fish in the water! Cheers - WC
