is there a formula for choosing width and thickness based on a person’s height and weight to ensure that the minimum flotation requirements are met? length is a big variable, and i’ve known some big guys to ride some tiny boards, including myself. i’m 6’10, 215, and i have a pretty good idea of what will and won’t float me. but now i’m shaping a fish for a friend who’s 5’6, 165 - i’m kind of lost on width and thickness for a twin fish about 5’6.
that’s not YOU , is it ‘sir w.a.l.’
I thought little ‘millerj.o.’ was going to be riding jon jon florence’s board , when he got to your place in hawaii ??
if it’s not sir wal with a name change …that’s a really good question , and one I’ve often wondered about myself.
ben
…what size board do you mainly ride ?
The traditional dimensions are 5’6" X 20" X 2 5/8" thick. That should float 165# just fine by todays standards.
