chopping down a 7'4" R Clark blank for a 6'7"

Hey.

I’ve been asked to make a 6’7" short board but with loads of foam in the centre for ease of paddling.

I have a spare Clarkfoam 7’4" R blank. Initially I considered taking 4.5 inches off each end of the blank and just re-foiling it.

After foiling I reckon I’d be left with about 4 inches of nose rocker and 1.66" of tail rocker.

I need to speak to this customer tomorrow and find out how he like to surf and what type of waves he surfs…

Do you guys have any comments

Is 4" too little nose rocker ?

Would the board become too ridgid in the tail section with this little tail rocker.

Should I sacrifice some more tail rocker to give more in the nose.

Thanks

Brian

Get the proper blank. save the 7-4R for another board. That blank is ok for a 6-7 fish type board, but not for a standard shortboard. Nothing’s impossible, but it’s not the best choice for the effort.
