Chossing a blank. Help!

I want to make myself a performance Longboard for 2’ to 6’ foot central cal surf and could use some help choosing a blank/rocker that would give me a nice balance of carving, speed and drive. I have a nice looking template (9’2" x 18-1/8"n 23"mid 14-1/2"t). It has a pretty blunt nose and a very rounded pin. I’m thinking of setting it up as a single fin. I have shaped and surfed boards out of the 9’1"Y and 9’4"B and like them both for different reasons and now I am stuck. I was thinking of the 9’1"Y with added nose rocker (+1/2" last 18"). What do you folks think? Thanks all, Scott

Thanks all, Scott Scott;try adding 1/2" nose rocker in the last 12" & if you want it really loose on turns & directional changes add 3/4"tail rocker last 18" —I’ve done about 100 of these in the last year or so with no complaints and rave reviews-- the rocker came about by me tweeking a 9’1"y of my own around 8 yrs ago and I still have and ride that bd quite often --we have dubbed it "old faithful " cause it has never let me down 1-10’ Best of luck in your search!

Thanks! What sort of bottom shape and fins do you use on your old faithfull? I really want to do my home work on this one. Thanks again, Scott

Thanks! What sort of bottom shape and fins do you use on your old > faithfull? I really want to do my home work on this one. Thanks again, > Scott the bottom shape is really nothing special it has a 3/8" nose concave from the tip to 30" back into a flat area w/ a slight roll towards the rail line then from 6" forward the center the flat & roll turns into a panel “v” w/the apex being right around 30" up from the tail tapering off towards the tail and almost dying right behind the center fin.The fin set-up is your basic 2+1 except that due to the falsa balsa air brush ; I didn’t want to mess up the color work so I used glass on sides (31/4 deep) and I did go with a fins unlimeted 10.5 center box and depending on the surf I use a multitude of fins w/ my personal favorite being a 7"Rice noseriding fin. By the way the measurements are 19"-225/8"-15"-3" and she paddles like a dream and even with the wide planshape its one of the best tuberiders I have ever been on, not to mention late take-offs ; its almost pearl-proof —hope all this helps!

Man, that sounds like a fun board!!! Thanks for the quik reply.
