I want probably a 6’8’ or 6’6’…Yep, I’ve shaped a bunch of boards from it, one of my favorite blanks. I have taken boards from 6’6" to 6’10" in all kinds of outlines. A fun blank to work with.
The 6’11", glued natural has a peformance rocker that does not lend its self to fun shapes unless they are cut back from the nose and considerably shorter. Now ordering a custom rocker can correct that, but the noses are narrow enough that a fuller template still doesn’t fit into the tip
so would you suggest that i move the template back towards the tail to counter the problems with the nose rocker, cause i do tend to like a flatter board.

On the stock 6’11", you could pull back at least 8 " and still have plenty of nose rocker. My suggestion is go with the 7’4"r and have ample room to uttilize the blank. One of my shortboard team guys had a 2 - 6’10"'s cut from them, it was maxing out the blank and I had no room to make him anything, but the rusty that came out of it. Of all the boards I’ve made for him over the years, these were the 2 he disliked.
Well I think I’ll just move the template right to the back and shape a 6’6’ out of it, that should take enough of the nose rocker out for me. Thanks for your help Jim.

By pushing your template all the way to the back, yes you are decreasing your nose rocker and maximizing existing tail rocker in the blank, but you are also pushing the thickest part of your foil forward. This may or may not be what you want. It will aid in paddleing and wave entry but may hinder performance. Just be aware, that’s all. Good luck.
