Classic 60s Longboard from Clark 10'3" blank

Hey everybody

I got what look to be sweet dimensions for a classic 10’6" board using the search feature here. hgrant, I believe it is, gave these specs in a post a year ago.

127" length, measuring from nose to tail.

half template measurments:

3" - 4 13/16"

6" - 6 3/4"

Nose - 8 3/4"

2ft - 10 7/16"

3ft - 11 1/4"

4ft - 11 9/16"

5ft - 11 5/8"

6ft - 11 1/2"

7ft - 11 1/8"

8ft - 10 3/8"

9t - 9 1/16"

Tail - 7 5/8"

10ft - 5 7/8"

124" - 3 5/8"

127" - 0"

Only trouble is, these measurments are for, I believe (the post wasn’t real clear) a Clark 11’3" blank, or at least a Clark 10’6" blank.

I have the Clark 10’3" blank. I am looking to make a really classic 60s board that is a stable wave catching machine for use at Cowells, Santa Cruz. I am pretty sure on flat bottom, 50/50 rails with (mabye) a slight rail downturn towards the rear of the board, with a big glass on fin. I am less certain on length – anywhere from 9’6" to 10’3".

I am looking for new dimensions for a board like I described, or thoughts on tweaking the dimensions I posted above to fit my blank. This is the first board I am going to make a template for, so I want a good shape to immortalize in plywood.

Thanks a lot, Cassidy

It appears from those dimensions to be a Classic Takayama pintail. Just scoot your template back and forth on your blank to blend the outline and you’ll be planting toes on the nose before you know it.

Ride on, Tom
