Classic pig dem's

I have a friend that wants me to shape a under 6’ rnd pin single fin pig. He weighs 175lbs and longboards typically. Waves are usually 6’ & under, mushier than not-

What kind of dem’s would suit him best? He’s an intermediate level surfer-

Any help is greatly…i just started shaping (only 6 boards shaped/glassed)

Thanks-

Hey

Outline similar to McCoy’s, with wide point back for easy wave catching.

6’ x 23x 16" nose if there are offshore winds, wider if not, 17.5 tail, any config, keep it thick in the tail, like 2.2" at one foot mark.

Total thickness about 2.65 or so.

6’ might be a bit of a stretch for him, but a good surfer can handle.

Needs lotsa fin, either three boxes, 11" single, or just 3, 5.5 tris…or two 6.5 twins.

That’s for “PIG”, not modern single fin performance board.

Pigs are for small waves and quick, round turns.

Thanks for the advice-

We are shooting for a true pig…

So, the w-point should be back past the m-point of the board? By 11’’ s-fin, do you mean the base/height of it? What kind of fin, specifically? A big cut-away or more raked type? Sorry for the stupid questions, but all I’ve ever surfed are hi-perf thrusters-

That is a ‘piggish’ 6’0 i made.

Here’s dimensions for a 6’10 shaped by Greg Liddle. Wide point is @ +4.5". For every 2" of length you change, change 1/4" of width.

I’m the same height and weight as your friend and longboard 90% of the time…Here’s a great pig I ride when the waves are a little faster. LEt me know if you want the dimensions, I can post them tonight. The board is a 5’10"…
