Yes it is. I’d wonder if the arrangement of mesh layers near the dorsal fin, for instance, might have something to teach us about glassed-on fins or the strength needed around fins in general.

Or, what kind of skin flex and deformation versus rigidity might make for speed.

Sounds in many ways like cold-mo(u)lded boat hulls.

And, as I think about it, it’d also be interesting to find out just how directional that mesh is. For instance, you can get fiber cloths to laminate with that’s considerably stronger in one direction than the other. Thinking about the stress patterns involved.
