coloring fins

hey i have a good fin that i found that i am going to use (longboard center fin) and it is clear but i want to color it black. I tried using tinted resin, but it lays on too thick and doesnt dry completely flat. Any ideas as to how i can color this fin black?

Krylon fusion.Spray light coat to start then a couple of moderately heavier coats.

is it ok for a glass on fin? will it delam?

use resin …after mixing catalyst…stirr dont shake…strain the dilightfull goo through a throw away 20cent strainer from the paint department to get out the legions of the unmixed particulates…with a clean brush on a well sanded fin hanging down brush on plenny resin yep and this stuff is opaque right ?

…you tested it before you catalized it right so you can’t see through… nod your head yes… thank you,by the way you can do two coats of black pigment and no one will yell at you because this is a homer not a shopper…the surfacing agent is in there right?..save half the resin mixed and strained for the segundo or bald spots…

brush horizontally both sides then vertical both sides wait a beat and repeat…look at a picture on the wall dip the brush and wipe it nervously a couple times and dip it quick again so its got resin but not dry .wipe drips off the tip of brush but not the bristles midbtush… and then the coup de gras the last light swipe that clears the excess from the fin’s bottom dripping edge and even the fins sides…touch te resin and not the fin! let it touch the fin and you make furrows ,not good this stuff has been laying down while you have been fooling arround it can do this without yo better than with you… LOOK AT THE FIN and check for sags and drips … now walk away and paint somthing else black with the bottom of the batch…That! you can dick arround with and wreck. Leave the fin alone in a closed space and let it go off in peace and dont touch it no matter who threatens you!The excess test panel or car patch or resined road kill that you can poke prod scratch at that but let that fin coat get crispy before you feel it…if its perfect you are a god. if it’s screwed up do it again ,big deal … you get better every time and gods have flaws otherwise why would there be demi gods…ambrose… 1.clean dust free oil free surface 2. brush both ways more than once…3.allow yourself to succeed and fail… the learning process is a learning process … if you do it right the first time… you dont learn as much
