compsand out of non eps blank

Any make compsands out of regular foam, instead of EPS foam?

 

It would work the same, right?

You can use almost anything for the core you like as long as it is compatible with the skin.

Eps is commonly use because of the weight benefit.

However with PU you will need less skin.

Think in terms of Core vs Skin, It's a balance.

PU I just hand layup because it is quicker.

In the bag I use Epoxy Resin. Polyester I have never tried in a bag.

PU foam will be heavy-less flexible and break down much faster than eps.

If your going to use PU foam just do a deck skin and call it good.

I have done it out of XPS foam and it works ok for guns.

To do a full Compsand out of PU would be a heavy-stiff waste of time and money.

no its not the same

and your wasting epoxy 

putting it with wood skins and perimeter stringers on PU foam

if you’re going to use a stock PU blank

stick with a center stringer and just glass it normally

you can’t go wrong with that predictable combination

Also not all epoxies and skins work well with some PU foam
