All my comments are about spoons that require a thick rail as that is the only experience that I’ve had with concave decks. By puting your feet below the rail line, you have lowered the center of gravity enough to stabilize things greatly but it makes moving your “weight” from one rail to another more difficult. It appears that I have gravely missused the word “leverage”. Sorry for the confusion. Shallow concave decks (.25" to .5") probably won’t lower the center of gravity enough to affect anything.
thats spot on bert… 20 percent of my boards eg my stealth model have a 1/8-1/4 deck concave. i never get a secondhand one every one loves them that much they keep em. they do feel comfortable to paddle the width makes up for the floatation and they have a awesome response with little feet pressure
no ones spoke of g-decks???..their was a surfer article last year all about em…looks like you put a wakeboard ontop of a surfboard then filled around with foam…you dont lose volume of the board(probably adds volume) and since the rails are thinner it probably has the performance of a thinner board…they have good feedback on the prototypes…verry skateboardish…
I had posted something up about the Gdecks a little while ago, when that first article came out. I’d be curious if anyone has one or something similar. I’d love to know how far in the rail goes before it bumps up to the raised deck.
I’d also be curious to hear how it handles on rail with that extra bump in there.
