concave set up, single to double

Hey Guys

I posted this question on an other thread but got no real answers so I thought I would ask it again.

Just one question. Is it single/double, meaning that the double is still within the single where the stringer is lower than the rails through the double? or is it single into double where the stringer is the same level as the rails with a concave each side of the stringer? If people are doing one or the other, what differences would each one do compared to the other?
