CONCAVE

I INTEND TO REPRODUCE THE WONDERFULL SHAPE OF MY HYDRO HULL BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT’S THE BEST TOOL TO MAKE CONCAVE … BY HANDS OF COURSE… THANKS FOR ANY HINTS B.

Brian, A good tool for concaves is a balsa block that’s exactly 1/2 the size of a standard sheet of sandpaper. That way you can make more than one with different radius curves, two bjocks for one sheet. You can hand-shape the curve into the block, or make a jig for your router to cut it. I made the jig so that I could produce as many curved blocks as I want, but that’s a lot of work for just one. After the curve is cut, stick the paper with the spray glue that’s used for sanding discs. You can use other kinds of wood as well, but the balsa has a nice light feel to it. Doug
