Condition Red surfboards

I’ve been told that there is an existing brand called condition red surfboards

Anyone know details?

Much appreciated because, as you see from my avater, it’s the brand I currently use for my own boards (and has been my Australian registerd company for 10 years or so). But I don’t want to create problems with an existing brand.

Hey Red,

Found this out for you

and an address

Condition Red Surfboards

193 Copacabana Drive, Copacabana NSW 2251

Tel: (02) 4382 2375

but you’re in Vicco now aren’t you?

Condition Red Surfboards are shaped by Matt McDermott.

He’s out of Avoca/Copa.

Shaped with McCoy for some time in the 80’s then phased into a career with Quantas and his own label.

Great guy, good surfer, and a great shaper/designer.

He’s been getting back more into his label the last few years.

I see him a few times a year when he passes through town.

yeah CR surfboards at Copa the next beach from my home break

thanks guys

guess I’ll have to change my name

just shows that google searches don’t get to all corners of the earth - I just got about a zillion anti-terrorist sites for code red / condition red searches

Bummer mate. To save you from possible legal action, you should give away all your boards with that logo. I’ll help you do the right thing mate, i’ll have a 6’ quad fish, a 6’6’’ single fin, 6’6’’ thruster, a short egg, and a mal, just to help you out haha!!

Good luck if you have to change your name mate

The rail of the board says CR. i rode a 5’7" ozzie wright style condition red fish once with h2s. one of the best thrusters i’ve ever rode.

There was a channel Islands based out of england, I don’ think Merrick ever persued that. I think surfboard brand names are going to be a lot like band names, every one has been pretty much used by someone at some time.

What about using Condition Blue…

As in, storm approaching, think cyclones, blue alert, yellow alert, red alert…

Hey Red,

Thats a bummer for you man…

The board in the pic with the decals looks oldish. Early 90’s perhaps…Older than your 10 years…

I’d be chasing up the dude who had that name before you, see if he’s still operating. It goes a long way to be pro-active with these label similarities, because, hey, the guy might be more than happy for you to run with it.

Be wary of just running with it if you haven’t approached the original label owner. Obviously if that business is still functional, you want to get a new name for originality sake. Would’nt bother me if it were a totally unrelated product, but another board brand, large or small, yikes! It gets down to two things:- respect, and the law.

I noticed your logo/avatar:- Reminds me of my own moniker…“Speedneedle…” My original decal had a speedo on it, similar to yours, hence the speedneedle, you know, hitting the red line, flat stick…! Despite the other connotation, which some straight-laced crew frowned upon, the name stuck.

I reckon you would hold to your basic concept with “Red line”… (I know, its a BMX Co…but theirs is one word.)
