Convert a squash into rounded pin

I just bought a used really nice 6’10" Arakawa MR-200 for the fall. It was in really good condition and a great price. But it has a really pulled in squash tail. Sort of strange for a mini-gun. Its sort of a mental thing that I should always be riding a rounded pin or pin in bigger waves. I was thinking I could convert it. I’ve actually converted squashes into swallows, but never turned a squash into a rounded pin.

I was thinking I could lay out the tail outline with a pencil, saw off the squash bumps towards the end. And then sand off some of the extra fiberglass and then throw on a couple of layers of 6oz and then resin and sand it off. I think it shouldn’t be too difficult. But I wanted to see if there are any pitfalls I should watch out for.

Any advice?

Check the bottom contours and outline coming into the tail section. There might be good reason why it’s a squash.

get another board with tail shape you want...maybe sell the other to pay for it...or shape yourself an entire board, just how you want it...alot of work to convert a board and might as well use that money, effort and time doin a newy imo......
