Converting CAD files into Shape3D, AKU or APS files

This for all of the CAD tech savvy board designers out there.  I there a way to convert CAD file (i.e., .dwg or .dwf) files into Shape3D files, Aku files, and APS files.  I got a bunch of blanks but only have the CAD files and wanted to see if they can work with some of my designs.

Don’t worry purist, I still hand shape most of the time but I like cutting my 10’+ boards so they can fit in my small shaping room.

Thanks,

D

Hi,

I’m not sure about Shaped3D’s ability to read those files but apparently BoardCAD can read Shaped3D files and AKU’s…

Maybe u can try to just change the extension part of the file (after saving a copy -_- ) and see what happens ?

For Shape3D (and BoardCAD) the basic language for project files seems to be xml, it is probably a standard in such softwares.

Can u upload one oh your files so i can see what its code look like ?

Zourite:  I can email you a few samples.  I sent you a PM.

Thanks,

Dennis

Zourite, if you ‘crack the code’ so to speak let us know. I am especially interested in stuff that concerns BoardCAD…getting blanks in and cross sections out. -J
