Correct fin for 1968 Yater V bottom

I have a Yater V bottom with a fin that was cut down sometime in the past. I would like to replace it with something close to the original fin design. The original fin had about a 7 1/2" base. I am guessing that a Greenough 4A would be close to the original. Anybody have any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Nick

that would be a really good choice. i have a “newer” v-bottom and use that fin -a 9.75" one.works pretty damn good!

hi, would you mind posting a full picture of your yater v-bottom, i have a 1968 liddle v-bottom (serial # 60!) suppossedly shaped after a yater v.

mine has a waveset finbox with the big 12" greenough stage 3.

(you can look mine up at liddle’s website in the photoarchive)

Flo- has the married life treatin’ you??

dude, it’s awesome , couldn’t be happier! (thanks for asking, we missed you at the wedding but you were there in spirit (not as in tequila))

excellent! hope to see you this way soon(sans tequila)!

Flo,

Here are some more pics of the V bottom. Sorry the picture quality is not too good. It looks like the Greenough Stage 3 fin on your Liddle has a long base, like 10" or so? Since the base on the Yater is only 7 1/2" long, I think it probably had a Stage 4.

hi nick, looks like you got a really good rider there.

the stage 3 has a 9 3/4" base. it has a pretty thick foil- it is 5/8 thick at its thickest. that’s something to consider for your fin choice.
