Creme Surfboards?

Does anyone know anything about Creme Surfboards?

I hear Knost is riding for them and Kegel is shaping, yet I have yet to see one. Whats the word?

Theyre changing their name to gato but

I dont know what to think. Its quite the busy website.

Obviously I am not in a position to criticize board design and the boards look really nice, but I get the feeling that they are trying really hard to be outrageous and different. I guess that if the product is good then the image shouldnt matter?

Its an interesting direction and I am curious to see where it takes longboarding.

very popular down here in San Clemente, but most of the kids that ride them are more concerned with looking retro and the new bohemia than anything else. I think they issue “emo” haircuts and zip front beaver tails with every board purchase.

I went into the shop to ask some questions about the (4) boards they had in the shop. The kid working couldnt tell me why they put belly through the nose on some boards and scooped the nose on others. But he looked SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL…

Ill be doing all my baord purchasing at Icons…

If you want a retro board, Id go with a bing. I feel you get a much classier tint job for the buck and they ride sooooooooooo good…

…et voilà “Creme” bien habillé pour l’hiver…!

(En Français dans le texte)

Maybe someone can translate this typical french saying? I don’t seem to find the correct translation… I’m afraid that “well dressed for the winter” doesn’t mean much for you, does it?

the shapes looks good, but the glass jobs are a little…uuhhhh…weird?

overall, i think they’re trying too hard to be cool, and the end result is something really really fruity.

i mean…just look at the website.

take Mr. Cheateaux’s advice…get a Bing…and if you live around San Clemente, do your shopping at Icons of Surf.

I guess it’s all taste and opinion. Robbie is a really good surfer and that really backs up the boards. Also it appears he’s a great designer setting up a look and feel that people want. Different? You bet. Stirring the pot? You bet again. Obnoxious? Yeah probably to a lot of people but it doesn’t hurt anyone. Didn’t the La Jolla crew back in the 50’s-60’s get a lot of attention for what they wore? I dressed weird back in high school. Wait, I still dress weird by standards at work.

The glass jobs are very tough and a lot of the credit should be going to the glassers who take what Robbie wants and puts it all down in the lamination. Also when you get past the look and feel there has to be a performing board there otherwise it’s all wrapping paper and no gift. Most all the shapes are executed flawlessly and work very well.

Have you seen the fin on the Knost model? It seems that should be worth discussing here of all places.

Icons sells Creme boards or a least they did until Robbie opened the shop down the block.

Ride what you want and if you can’t make it yourself buy your board because of the shaper not the label.

Where I surf, the water in winter is usually the color of coffee. And I prefer Sugar in my coffee, not Creme… :stuck_out_tongue:

Not that there’s anything wrong with that

but

the branding of a Creme board is part of your brand too if you’re riding one

Creme or Sugar?

Ben’s art glass is better than a lot of the Creme art glass too.

Thanks, but mine was kind of a joke. First time I’d ever tried colors.

I went by the Creme/CJ/Paul Frank show in Huntington a couple months ago. Some of that resin work (Channin) is flat-out amazing…

I agree with Benny on the glass work. That takes talent. Whether it’s your taste or not, they’re using some pretty slick technique.

Now, Alex Knost’s butt crack, I could definitely have done without that. Actually, I could do without all of him.

By the way Benny, those are some great pics. I’ll have to save those.

i think his boards are sick and all those guys rip but thats my opinion

however im pretty sure hes gonna have to change his name because some

company on the east caost had creme already he got in some trouble with

that

Yep they’re going to be called Gato.

I believe specifically it’s Kevin over at Channin that’s doing the steller glass work.

Benny- Awsome! Love the wig! -Carl

I love the Wonder bread resin job!

I like the boards. A lot. And those guys are good. I especially like the shots of Robbie and the fellows in the new Longboard mag–those are HOT (I can type with my tongue in my cheek see)

I just don’t like the randomized splotches with that particular brand name on there–

also Knost’s taste in tight lavender pants is super je ne sais quois

or however you spell it

You spelled it almost right, Janklow: just pull out that “S” at the end of “quoi”…

Hmmm…Raton?

Wig? What wig?

Merci, monsieur.

Quite the turn out on this post. At least I am not the only one who feels this way. I am about the age of “The Knost” and I deal with people who dress like him everyday. “Its not just a way of dressing, its a lifestyle.” It’s the EMO scene being dragged into the water.

If this doesnt screme CREMEURSELF, then i dont know what does

After all, their guys look like chicks and their chicks look like dikes. He shows his more skin than all the girls at school do!

Though I must admit that those shapes with the hips back and the narrow nose look wicked fun, and those glass jobs are nothing short of extraordinary.

The guy who started it all, the original Emo dude -Emo Phillips!!

No relation to Jim, I think.
