Cure for lap Holes?

Whenever I do large laps on my boards I always end up getting one or two “holes” where I lapped the nose or tail. These holes only appear after I grind the laps. How do I prevent from getting these holes in my laps. It isn’t a problem with a clear board but when you do a color design it is a pain trying to cover these holes. I try to keep working the resin until it hardened up but no dice. I still get one or two? How does Gene Cooper avoid getting holes with those huge laps?

Thanks,

Gregg

By “holes”, I assume you mean airbubbles in the lam lap?

If so, you need more practice laminating, or less squeegeeing of the laps, using MORE resin. Resin doesn’t really run off the laps with normal 45 minute cure time.

So take your time when you saturate the rails, making sure to put resin IN there.
