Saw these on a local shaper’s site, evidently he’s putting them on any and every shape with great success. He’s calling them RPQs (rocket propelled quads), patent pend.
Just curious if anyone else has ever tried anything like this, and with what kind of results.
Very nice looking board and the set up looks like it would work on a variety of lengths.
Really like it but…
“patent pend.”? Good luck with that! Go back to the recent psychedelics and design thread - after all, it was a time for experimentation - that’s the kind of stuff that’s been toyed with over the years and someone could/will (probably) come out of the woodwork and call b.s. on it. Just my take. Patent’s never gonna fly… Talking about the channel design here - quads are old news.
Not really… A bonzer is a single into deep double concave… These are just really deep double concaves that start from nowhere… It seems like they’d have the potential to get a lot of air under the tail while trimming, maybe that’s the goal. They sure don’t seem like they’d be full of water while at speed… Other than that, I’m not really getting them. That’s why I asked.
Looks like JJR’s John Belik quad (posted on Sways here) combined with McKee’s placements. Interesting ‘invention.’
I like double concaves on quads–really maximizes the drive inherent in the setup. Perhaps I’ll bring the concaves out to the rails, then apply for a patent. I’ll call it the SDRB(PDTMCoBM,P): the Super Duper Rocket Bottom (Please Don’t Tell Malcom Campbell or Bruce McKee, Please).
