Pete I would love to get the kit for the Mikita. I bought that one when you were heading down that path before the Bosch. Keep us posted.

Seriously?? Who (if aspiring to be a serious shaper) would not pay $1000—$1200 for a seriously restored and more than adequate tool to do the job. Never mind. I know the answer; most of the crew on Sways. Who relate owning a $400 Skil to actually being able to use it. I recently sent a message to a seller of a Skil 100 on Enay. He was selling his shiney Skil for $1195 and had it listed as refurbished. . My question was what had he done to “refurbish” it?? He stated that he had taken the motor cover off and looked at the armature and had concluded that it was in good shape. Ie “refurbished”. I currently have four Skils For Sale. They start at $1000. I usually never even see them I buy them and have them shipped to Pete Casica to be restored. New cord, blades, brushes, comutator resirfaced, taken apart, bead blasted and painted with baked enamel. Triggers rarely need to be replaced as problems are usually associated with brushes. Planer is bench tested for amps and evaluated. Then and only then they are sold as “restored”. Yeah go ahead; Buy one Ebay. Use it “as is” until the brushes burn up and gouge the armature and burn up the motor. Then set it on the mantle for all your bros to see… Lowel
Looking forward to the Makita kit, keep us posted. Thanks for all your hard work. Pete
after months of looking I finally found a good 7.5 amp skil for a good price! This thing is gorgeous the previous owner used it maybe twice in his 40 years. There isn’t even a scuff on the trigger where it slides! I also found two skils from a home town construction company that used them heavily some 20 years ago these have seen better days and definitely need a full rebuild. But I feel like I just hit the mother load
Were you able to also get any extras? You know, manuals, blade setting and sharpening tools. Extra dust chutes, or belts? Just askin’. It sounds like the score of a lifetime. Goodonya !
I have manuals and and the fence for the 7.5 amp. Im not sure on the 5.5 amps as i have not looked at them yet in person ive just confirmed that they are skil 100s and mine now. My friend needs to get them out of the old storage unit for his family constuction company his grandfather could not figure out why we were asking him about the planers he used in his day hahaha. luckily their family files everything so I have a detailed record of the matainence of both of them so I am thinking they have the extras required to take care of them.
