Custom Bellyboards Pt IV...

(above) Dave Parmenter has made a series of custom bellyboards for us
over the years, and Steve is in love with his. Dave was a great shaper for these,
as he possessed a natural out of the box angle on things and the imagination to flesh it out.
Steve uses some form of ‘Slipcheck’ type spray on traction on his,
and it’s always ready to go, even after months in a board bag in the back of his truck.

[=Black][ 2](above) I think this board is 4-something, and while [/][/]Steve enjoys it,
he’s mentioned that his next model would be a tad longer.
The coil leash seems to work well for him, and the Toobs ‘blunt cut’
fins fit his feet perfect. For me, I need a pair of wide Churchills.
The beauty is, it’s all personal, and it’s all about what works for you.

I’ve been watching alleys and trash cans the past couple of months for yellowed half-boards.

so far I’ve collected a few whom are destined to become that which you are holding.

this thread gives me encouragement…

I have a older gentleman down the alley from me who is a long time local that has recently

‘hung up’ his surfboard due to shoulder and neck issues.

I’ve been trying to think of ways to keep him in the water…he’s been belly riding my first

compsand, but I keep telling him to buy some fins and we’ll get him on a paipo or a

foam/glass belly board.

good stuff.

Last year I had back surgery and went nuts not being in the water.

I decided to try and make a greenough style belly board cause standing up was a real trial.

Home depot trip for foam, Epoxy, some four and two ounce glass and a skip fry flexy fin.

The board came out ok since Im not much of a shaper but it did not last long with my three hundred pound ass pulling into close outs barrels.

It did get me in the water a month earlier then the Doctor said was ok and back on the road to recovery.

I had so much fun on it I was thinking of making another.

These are great for small closed out days when surfing just sucks.
