Are those 4WFS finboxes?
I think sometimes its better to say no and maintain a general look or theme for your brand. One that pleases both the shaper and the client. It is your artwork after all. Alot of people are happy to compromise if they really want one of your boards.
Find the best way to see if a customer is serious about what they want painted on their board is to quote a ridiculously astronomical price to do it. I find most of the time they say OK.
One guy wanted me to airbrush a bunch of stripes on his board so that it looked just like a surf tech… I did, but crickey! Shoulda told him to go buy a pop out…never again. I don’t care – even if he offered to pay double, it just felt wrong.

“Let the customer know that you will make them anything they want, but that your logo won’t go on a board that doesn’t meet your design criteria.”
I went with this and reached an agreement with my customer. Thanks, phebus. All is well in Santa Cruz.

Exactly.
Had a kid order a board.
Wanted a topless woman with huge tits.
I said OK.
Showed up with mom, and you can guess what happened.
Mom said “no way”!
Had to paint a top on that one.
She’s all covered up now.
I airbrush boards for a living.
Seen it all.
Thankfully some of the more terrible paint jobs were not on my board label.
Sometimes it is easier to explain to the customer that it will affect the retail value later when they want to sell it.
Usually they understand.
Hit 'em in the wallet.
They’ll change their mind.
