I keep reading how to do the bottom cutlap but I still can not find any info on how to do the top.
Does it overlap. Is it a but joint. Should lighter color br done first regardless of side???
I suppose it depends but at least the way I do it, yes it overlaps; no it’s typically not a butt joint (unless you are doing an inlay) and no, you don’t have to do lighter colors first.
Thankyou, I know it seems pretty obvious but I wanted to be sure!
if you don’t want 2 different colors from the bottom and top to overlap on the rails, you’ll need to do one layer as an inlay, then come back around over the rails with a layer or two of clear on top.
for example: red bottom + blue deck = purple rails. if you want the rails red (like the bottom), then do the blue deck as an inlay. if you want the rails blue (like the deck), then do the red bottom as an inlay.
