cutlap with opaque pigment?

A buddy of mine is making his board #001. He was going to glass with blue opaque pigment, in part to hide some scratches and divots. His question was- can you free lap if the color will be the same on both sides? I thought it would be better to cutlap. I’d thought I’d seen opaques cutlapped, but then had a hard time finding pictures. If you do cutlap with a heavy opaque how do you see the tape?

No, you can’t free lap pigmented glass. To cut tape, lift it vertically on the outside edge with your fingers and then cut across it with blade as you go, parallel to board surface
