Geert, Do layup first-- tape off all surrounding area and do layup directly to foam. as it gels pull a strip of masking tape directly over the one underneath and trim with a razor using the one on top as guide. Then laminate… Pin line the border after fine sanding the hot coat, gloss and polish.I’m sure there are others out there with some better tricks than I but this’ll put you on the right track. I am new to glassing and saw this thread. I did not fully understand how to do a fabric inlay. Can someone please explain it in a little more detail for me, do you do the fabric first before any sort of laminating whatso ever? Here is how I think it is done and please tell me where I am wrong. You cut the fabric to the size you want. Tape off the surrounding areas on the finished blank, place the fabric on the blank. Next take laminateing resin (how much and with how many cc’s of catalyst?) and squeegee it on like glass, getting rid of all the excess. When it gels take a razor and cut along the tape line. Let dry, then laminate board as normal. Is this how it is done? I would love help. Any help on color resin glass jobs would be appreciated as well.

Click the link. Here is just one of the many threads from the archive. You can find a lot more in there. http://www.swaylocks.com/discussion/archive/index.cgi?read=9517

Hi Sean, You better take some experience in glassing a board before u go to have fabric inlay. Try to get familar with the resin from the first/second board. The experimental board will give u lots of idea what should be done and not to be done. I just inlaid my skimboard already, did the procedure as you stated before, it works~… Regards, Crabie http://www.swaylocks.com/links/pages/Materials_and_Supplies/
