i have never done a cutlap before and i am kind of confused about it. at what stage do you cut the lap and what do you guys usually cut it with. are there any pointers on making it straight or do you just have to get good at it.
-
when your resin is cured enough that its not sticking to your razor blade, but its not hard yet either

a razor blade
-
you just have to get good at it.
(But it helps to use the right tape, have good lighting, use a brand new razor blade, don’t have too much color in your resin (so you can see the tape), and stay back a little bit so you can see what you’re doing (don’t hunch up over your cut, keep your arm’s length…other than that I can’t think of any tips.) Have fun!
Heaps of stuff in the archives bro,
Iv only dont two cutlaps but following stuff in the archives they turned out sweet.
Just do a search for “cutlap” and you should be sweet!
I use the cheapest tape i can find, baking paper, and razor blades all from the bargain shop and have had no problems whatso ever…
Good luck
