I have a fiarly critical question for which I could not find an answer by googling- how long will a cyano arylate bond last? I am making pieces for a museum and would like to think centuries from now they will still be holding together. Anybody know where I could find such info regarding divers adhesives- super glues, white glues, yellow wood glues, epoxies…
“Cyanoacrylates are not
archival”…yet a lot of us use them," says Bill Simpson, chief preparator
at the Field Museum
of Natural History, and a mastermind of the Sue preparation.
Key word here is ‘archival’ to guide your searches
Whereas pigmented based inks for an inkjet are ‘archival’ and make good logos.
Howzit tblank,I get Global's weekly news update and they have stuff that I have never heard of but then they have things that I would love to own. Aloha,Kokua
Here is the disclaimer from the super glue people.
"The Super Glue bond may last years but the specific application exposures may be an issue. Our Super Glue product is a very strong setting adhesive. The longevity of its bonding life is dependent upon many factors mainly related to the types of exposures the cured adhesive will see over time. Exposure to UV light, high humidity, water and chemicals will cause the bond to weaken quicker than if the Super Glue is left at ambient temperature in an indoor environment."
