Dale's registry

This is something I have thought about for years, but! Think of the can of worms one would open. Egos would be crushed beyond belief and by who’s credentials would they be judged? To openly state that Joe Blow can’t even use a planer, hasn’t surfed in the last 15 years, farms out work to third string rookies, is tantamout to liable. It better be something that can be expained in black and white in court. It is sort of like the “rules” of surfing being expained to a judge about a drop in. I know if I started naming shapers or any industry workers as incompetent, I’d be black balled or worse

Jim; I still think the answer to all this is on the bottom of the board…a signature. If there is no signature at all then you are buying a board shaped by anyone…no credit no harm, let the buyer beware. If it is signed, “Jim Phillips” then either you shaped OR someone you trust to do the job has done it and you think it is good enough for your name to be on it (regardless of the sticker). If it is signed, “Shaped by Jim Phillips” then you better have done all the work (including the final sanding of a KKL). Its just like signing a piece of art…there are existing legal standards for this…it just needs to be applied by some scum sucking surfer attorney to establish it.
