Man, what the f*ck, if these guys spent as much time on their videos as they did on changing their website maybe they would’ve made the first release date last year, but they missed it again (7/15). They did get the dvd out though, of which in the last couple of days the shipping went from $10 to “a flat $15” (???). And allow 4-6 weeks delivery! Dude, I can fedex a dozen dvds OVERNIGHT for that. The last thing I waited 4-6 weeks for was ordered off the back of a Richie Rich comic book (sea monkeys '79). Now instead of pinlines and splashes in the glassing series where it should be we’re in for another $100 for the “art” series. Man, I hope he doesn’t have the ass to charge the same price for each phase, especially when I’ll be depending on my social security check by the time they come out. I can understand this guy probably didnt know what he was getting into on the first film and had cost overruns that will be passed on to us but I hope he’s worked that out and the next will be cheaper. I DO hate to slam people (never in public forum) and I KNOW the info is worth the $ but after offering suggestions for content and hanging out soo long waiting and wanting these videos only to find I can hardly afford it and when I can it’s another month wait, I am severly disappointed. Crossfire did it for $30 a pop.

I totally agree with you. I’ve been waiting a long time myself, and i also have just about every shaping, glassing tape that is out there, but this one. I’ve also been waiting a long time. I agree with you on cost over run, but when you say your going to have a product out on a time, make sure for delays. I also agree on the shipping price thing. I also think that is some Bull, you can get a VHS or DVD sent any where in the states for 5-6 bucks. I’m still going to buy the set, to add to my collection, and will pay for them, but i’m not to happy with the delays, price, and website, but i’m sure when i do get my set, it will make up for everything. Hello, I am one of the crew that helped shoot the master shaper series. I would like to clear up some things that seem to be making some people upset. First, let me say that this set of videos is not being handled by a large corporate giant able to absorb every hit it takes. It was very difficult to do what we did with the situation we were handed. The price is what it is because there are more considerations than just covering production cost. With the first batch printed comes extra fees involved with setup and things of that nature. It is likely that the price will be able to come down in time. We are not clearing much after the sale of one of these sets. The shipping costs were raised because there has been great interest in these videos all over the world and we are just not able to handle different shipping charges to all these places. So, some will pay a little more and some will pay a little less. There is nothing we can do about that right now. Those who pay a little more for shipping can expect their package to be shipped higher priority at the shipping house. As for the 4-6 weeks shipping, count on waiting less than that. We needed to post that just so we are covered. There are a lot of people interested and we are unsure about the volume of orders we will have to handle at any one time. To those still concerned, this is a fully instructional how-to video. There are no skits or surfing, this is a solid 2 hour production showing Jim Phillips walking you through, step by step, the things that he has learned over his many years as a surfboard shaper. Also, the website is handled separately from the video production, therefore, no delay was caused by the updating or changing in any way. We do apologize for any misleading text in the glasser/board art section. That will be updated as there were some misunderstandings between the ones responsible for making that happen. Then next set of videos will be substantially cheaper as the production cost will drop considerably by default due to proximity. We do appreciate all the interest and we hope that once people start getting a hold of the videos they will be satisfied with the result. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience but we are doing everything we can.
Don’t you think by setting the price so high you’ve really limited your customer base and therefore your profit. Look at Walmart: sell 50 @ 20% profit or 1000 @ 10% profit. Bootleggers could make a bundle at $50 a piece but then so could you. Sorry I’m a little put off. I’m done.
I reserve my c-note until I hear the reviews. No tickie, no money.

Hey Cheapskate. Why don’t you make the video then! Since it’s start we have compiled the most versitile footage for YOU to use. But someone is so pissed at ME that they created a worm and sent it to the Damascus site with the intent of Screwing ME. It arrived with the message “hey Jim Phillips, check out these cool tools”, nextthey sent me the Klex encrypted so my virus scan missed it. So your dissapointed, me too!!!

Cheepsk8…Maybe you should invest the $100 on an education (or at least a dictionary) and learn how to spell. Cheap….? If you don’t want to pay…you don’t get to play. I get so sick of jackasses who complain about pricing. If it is priced too high…well…don’t buy it. My two cents.

My > two cents. …Here’s a quick lesson. They should cost 1500 dollors. They cost you in a surf shop 700. You want a better deal. There is no better deal. The deal is you get to go to a place that sell’s what you want, and you GET to buy it.It cost’s me 500 for a board, only becouse i GET to shape it myself.I saved 200,but it took me six hour’s to shape it.I charged myself 200 dollors. Now im in debt to myself for 200 buck’s.Dam,what happened.Oh well ive got a nice stick.I’ll pay myself back later, maybe.J.A.
Damn Jim, that really sucks. Wasn’t me, I ain’t mad at ya.

Damn Jim, that really sucks. Wasn’t me, I ain’t mad at ya. No, I realize it came originating from a Brevard Co, Fla. Server. It was one of those “you suck goat balls” mentality types. Hey, I come down hard on people who having not a clue, step into the ring and tout knowing it all, but also I FREELY give advise, honest advise to those who really are seeking help with their surfboard problem. Just look at this minor delay as a small speed bump rather than a major attempt by any parties to squeeze the buying public with smoke and mirrors. Jim
