Dextra 9-4 longboard

I did a quik search and and dextra came up as a pop out and not a pop out.

Mine is fairly elaborate for a pop out 2’" mahogany stringer with 1/4" offsets nose and tail blocks resin panels(blue) top and bottom…BUT it lookes like a glassed blank far as shape goes flat rockers rails as thick as the board boxy , choped strand mat with volan over it typical pop out look but with all the bells and whistles…the logo is a sun and pitch fork…any one no if its a pop out? I just want the blank no twists pretty clean board severe sun burn few dings

very much a pop-out, i had one back in '64-ish , was about all you could get on the east coast then—called a Hard shell blank—foam blown in a mold that was lined with chopped glass and resin and then glassed and finished—sold for about $100 …pretty kool wood fins with a wide bead of glass aroung them. fond menories, but still just a “Pop out”

Yeah, I have one too. Its a popout, but still, a pretty cool one.

If you are for some reason thinking of stripping it down to the bare blank, I would recommend NOT. I tried that once with a pop out and it was way, way too much work to be worth it.

is the foam they used for pop outs anygood for the day and time

the one I had was crummy foam, not worth digging for. Your mileage may vary of course…

Yeah the stuff looks like toast or crutons

Yeah, Dextras and (even more so in OC) Keokis were the stock-in-trade of rental boards around here until the later 60’s. Heavy as hell, and just about zero rocker. If I recall correctly, though, both brands had pleasing stringer and fin construction.

I could be mistaken but I could have sworn I saw a Dextra that appeared to be custom made…meaning it was hand shaped and glassed, with a yellow tint. It had the familiar sun/trident logo like the others I saw at the discount dept. stores that sold them. I read somewhere that a few were made like the one I saw. Ironically, one of the better longboards I rode as a grom in the 60s was some pop out that I could’nt even make the label out due wear and tear. It was beat up, ugly, but it kinda light and turned really easy.
