Diamond Tail

A few shapers seem to be playing around with diamond tails lately. How do they perform compared to a squash or square.

If, you are on a diamond. If, you look real close, you, will notice a little bitty point inbetween the two corners of the square, or the squash. That little point is easily worth, two or three hundred more bucks. Hurry! Get one now! Tell all of your friends! It’s a major break through! Be the first on your block … have fun

There’s not that much difference in these tails, just that with a diamond the rails are a little shorter, so in theory the turning radius would be shorter to. Peter Rijk.

Rich Harbour talks about the diamond tail in the Terry Simms model. As prijk said, the rail lenth is shorter, so the board will turn in a shorter radius, but the board maybe would hold less because the efective edge is shorter too, at least, that’s the theory in snowboards, probably here will work too. http://www.harboursurfshop.com/ Good waves. hi coral, maybe you misunderstood my message. did i at any time ask you to give me one of your sermons, no!!. if i had wanted to hear one of your many philisophical rants on the general surfing public tendencies i would have written a paragraph requesting this information. so please refrain from replying to my questions unless you answer the specified details. any extra information that may seem relevant and humerous to you is not required. thankyou my friend, goodnight and goodluck in your continual struggle.

Oooooo, you were so close! If only you had checked in with a dictionary you would have had the all time greatest Subject title. I think even Coral would have appreciated it… Newbs

To the average to good surfer, exactly the same if the boards are identical and the fin placement is the same. A fin change will affect the performance more than the tail shape. Even to a pro, the difference between a diamond and the square is so small I doubt they could tell. Now a pin and a square, that’s a different story…

im was sure that you would have realised the piss take on the old coral miester, but you didnt. my goodness gracious me. what do i have to do to get old salami to understand.

I have a Harbour Simms model. My favorite board by far! 9’4 long. 17 nose. 22 1/8 width. 13 1/2 tail. 2 7/8 thick. . I have square tail performance longboards, rounded pin performance longboards…Square tails have a boxy kind of turn, rounded pin have a smooth rail to rail feel to the turn…the diamond feels like it is a blend of the two. I am so stoked on that board. It turns like a shortboard, and lets me get those cheater fives with ease. I think it is perfection in design. As long as I live I will always own at least one Harbour Simms. Big respect to Rich Harbour and Terry Simms for designing the perfect performance longboard.
