Diggers resin hotcoat

ill probably get laughed off the forum for this, buuut.

I live in a small coastal town a fair way from resin supplies. Running low on lam resin, probably just enough for one side of a hot-coat.

Could you effectively use diggers resin as it already has styrene in it or am I missing something?

I’ve used it for ding repair in the past with great results, clear and solid.

Have the fumes got to me?!

I haven’t used that brand myself but after reading the advertising description, I’d say it’ll likely work to a point.  It sounds like your typical industrial grade ‘boat resin.’  I.E. fine for laminating but without some surfacing additive and UV inhibitors, will not be optimal as surfboard resin for hot coats and UV resistence.  If you can, find some surfacing additive (styrene + paraffin) and use a shot in your hot coat.  Maybe add a bit of white pigment to it in your lamination coats and fill coats for UV resistence(?)

Id only be using it for the hot coat if at all. And it’d be the bottom of the board as I intend to do a huge anti shark posca pen stripe pattern!

Thanks for the feedback.

UPS,FED-X some resin from fiberglass hawaii. automotive shops and hardware stores carry resin sometimes.

Yeah our hardware store has the above resin. Interested in using only as a hotcoat for one side as I have enough for one side with lam resin and styrene.
