Dimensions please - thanks

I’m looking for suggestions for my next project. I want to do a fish/modern fish, wide shortboard type shape. Not a traditional old school fish. Something to ride in mushy 1 foot to overhead surf. I want it to be around 6’4" and probably 20 inches wide. Any suggestions for thickness and nose and tail widths?? Thanks

Thanks Derrick-I have an Al Merrick that I love, looks to be exactly what your looking for. Don’t have the exact dimensions with me but I will get them asap. It’s 6’4" and 2 1/2" inches thick, 20" wide at the mid point about an inch back from center. It’s a bit slow off the bottom turn but rips now that I supercharged it!!(Thanks Herb!) check back in a bit and I will post the nose and tail mesurements! - Brandon

Thanks I have a board in the board section that mite interest u…Its listed in the hybrid section under DT. It has a fairly straight rocker, and a flat to panel v bottom. I use this board in waves from 1-4 ft. and its a lot of fun…

Thanks Modern thruster fish. 6’4" x 15 x 20.25 x 14.5 x 2.5 thick from 6"7" R all length cut from the nose with added tail rocker. If you live in LA you can trace the template. This was a magic board !!!

i’d go somewhere around 13.5" nose, 14.5" tail, give or take…maybe 2 3/8th thick. with the length and width you should be able to keep it pretty thin and sensitive. i know fishes traditionally have flat bottoms but i’d throw in some concaves in the back. have fun with it and try tracing out a couple outlines before you start hacking…

s.r. is right, that was a good one…time for a new one?

Hey thanks you guys. Brandon, i will await the dimensions of your Merrick. SR, I live in norcal, so no dice on the template, but thanks very much for the offer. Keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks>>>Mate, I’ve just finished making myself a 6’2" modern fish. The dimensions are 6’2", Nose 13", Width 20" (1" forward of centre), Tail 16", 2 3/4" Thick. The pod is about 7" wide (swallow of course) with the depth about 1 1/2". E-mail me if you want more info or a copy of the template. It goes great in surf from 1 to 5 feet. Regards, Craig.
