Ding Repair on a vintage longboard

I just picked up a potential wall hanger- overall the board is in great shape with the exception of a fairly small but deep ding in the tail. The ding occurred while in storage. Im interest in fixing the hole, but unclear as to what the process is and what materials to use. Would modern ding repair materials be appropriate? THanks

If you could post a photo of that board and of the ding, advices would be much more “custom” than just: “…fill the hole using microspheres then glass over it…”

use granular suger mixed with resin for the fill. It looks like the heavier foam and it sparkles like the old foam. But do not get it wet in any way before you have a chance to glass and seal. It will melt and turn the existing areas foam brown.

If you want you can put a drop of green tint in the mix and you get that nice Volan match. Then if you really want to get tricky, you can hit it with a light fog of acrylic paint that is an exact match of the board color.
