I work with mainly Epoxy resin and occasionally polyester. I mostly use DNA. I have a tin of Acetone, but I am mostly afraid to use it…
DNA seems safest…
What is the role of DNA / Acetone in epoxy and what is the role of DNA and Acetone in poly?

Its for getting stupid drunk and blind, silly!
bump
No Acetone with epoxy
Disclaimer: I am not an expert, despite using Latin terms.
Nevertheless, my understanding is that acetone breaks down the stratum corneum (the outer protecting layer of the skin), allowing other chemicals dissolved in the acetone to pass through the skin and into the bloodstream more easily than they would if dissolved in DNA.
Given that epoxy can be cleaned up with DNA, there’s no point in using acetone, and risking absorption into the body.
With polyester, DNA is useless, so you have to use acetone. But polyester+acetone doesn’t seem to get into the bloodstream in the same way as epoxy+acetone.
bah humbug dont use either.
For cleaning my hands/tools White Vinegar works great for epoxy. A bit more elbow greese and your hands/arms will stink. But way more safe.
seconded.
with epoxy, I don’t use any solvents whatsoever.
white vinegar is like 1/20th the cost and just as effective.
say pretty please to Huie and he Might tell you…Serious!
Can't you use Go jo?? We have that at work now, the cherry one smells so good i wash my hands 10 times a day hahaha
And a little befind the ear for the ladies!
Vinegar works really easy, for hands and tools. GoJo, or any Plumbers hand cleaner also.
