I just did my 6 0z bottom layer the other day, and it is nice. I am now ready to laminate the top (Polyester resin, etc.) I’m going for two 6 oz layers on the top and was wondering: Do I lay both layers of glass on at the same time, or do each one separately? Keep in mind that I have about four small laminates I was planning to put either on the foam or between layers, and also wanted advice about that. By the way, how do I repay all the good advice you guys keep giving me? I sometimes wish I owned my own brewery.
Mike: Generally you will get a better (stronger) lamination if you do any multi-layer schedule in one pour. You will have to adjust your resin volume for more cloth to be wetted out and your catalyst ratio to allow for longer lamination time. It takes longer to work multiple layers and you will have more air bubbles to work out, including you cutlap or freelap that extends up from the bottom. I lay my lams between layers, roll the top layer back and wet the single exposed layer of cloth in the area you will put down a lam on. Place your lam and work out the air etc. then carefully roll the cloth back into place over the lam. The rest is pretty much like you did the bottom.
