After all my questions and hopes I’ve posted on this site, I’ve finally got my chance. I just got a call from my friend saying he and his dad are going to put the shaping bay back together and are putting in an order for blanks, and I am invited to join them in shaping my first board. His dad used to shape boards for a living here on the Sonoma Coast, and still uses a sureform for all his work…so I will get to see it done the way I myself will be doing it. I just wanted to thank you all agian, becuase I will now have a little more confidence when I step up to my fresh blank. ~~Alex Bowerman
Congrats Alex! I remember how stoked and how nervous I was when I shaped my first board. Remember, go slow, think things all the way through. Like the old saying goes, “measure twice cut once”. Stay true to the “Soul” of shaping…Peace Andy
