Dulling sharp edges of G-10 fins...

Does anyone know if you can use sandpaper to dull the sharp edges of a set of G-10 fins? Also, is there any particular technique to use or just a light rubbing?

Sick of being cut with these things…

Thanks!

I’ve used well over 60 G-10 fins, some with two carbon layers, some with 3, most pure G-10.

400 flat sanding the trailing edge works fine.

Someone in the know once said it’s better to chop it off than round it, if you can’t foil it correctly.

No buzz, no humm, no slower, but a lot safer.

i use different body files......................sandys works.

Thanks! I feel lucky at this point that I haven’t cut something more seriously than I have…the fins in question - on three different boards (without mentioning shaper) - are sharp! Ended up out of the water for two weeks with one incident with an infection (fin cut to foot). Randomly cut my hands (and other body parts) from time to time…one little miscalculation and you’re bleeding…

After I make G10 fins, I go over the outline with a piece of 220 rolled into a cigar.

Works for me.

I did it to my g10 fins. 400 grit, just enough to take the knife edge off after slicing through my finger while surfing.

I’m guessing it will work…just wanted to know if someone has actual experience with g-10 in particular, as I don’t want to ruin them.

sandpaper will dull the sharp edge of just about anything!
