Dumpster Diver Template

Hi all,

I'm new to these forums. I've been playing around in AKU for past few weeks, planning to make a surfboard for a class project. I thought it would be cool to make something close to Dane's Dumpster Diver, has anyone made a similar board and have a file to share? Thanks,

mondo

I’ve been shaping (hand shaping) for 20 years and I recently got nailed by someone from F#$K knows where for asking a few simple questions… My advice, look at the Dumpster, then look at the monitor, then look at the Dumpster, then look at the monitor, THEN… look at the Dumpster, then look at the monitor again… Trust me. Trust your self ! You will feel better about your board and yourself at the end of the day.

Peace, good luck, have fun.

I love beer!!!

Hey Mondo,

There is a feature on Aku where you can download that dumpster diver photo off the CI site (or any photo of any board you can find for that matter) to your desk top, import it into Aku, match your outline to it, scale to size and your set.

Look at tutorials or help or whatever its called on Aku.

Don't worry what others say, borrowing a template puts you in some pretty good company

Borrowing… does that mean your going to return it???

What a crock of S#$T!

I think the story goes: CI “borrowed” it from Roberts; and Roberts may have “borrowed” it from …Lost

just sayin

yea mondo, the outline of the dumpster diver is constantly changing. I do have several files you could look at to get an idea. Unless you have a CNC machine the files are just that, files.

Mondo, can you please send us some photos of your finished board.

The reason behind this request is to show just how easy it is for “anyone” to Become a “surfboard shaper” with the use of machines (Also we all love photos on Sways)
I know there is so much that goes into refining good performing boards, but I have seen quite a few, some of my friends, decide to become shapers. They can work there regular job build boards in their spare time, along with building team and bingo, there a recognize  local shaper. Some might even stumble on a nice rocker and there really away. 2 of my mates are now full time shapers, still asking advice on this and that.

Sometimes I wish I hard a regular job and could shape as a hobby. But Nar I could never have a boss telling me what to do, and I can surf when I want.

No doubt about it, shaping is fun, But it changes when its becomes your profession, Big time.

I think the Picasso quote is “bad artist borrow, great artists steal.”
