I saw a cool video on line of the “new” chisel method to remove the bony growths of “surfers ear.” They make little incisions over the growth, then chisel the growth and it “pops” off. And, here’s the great part, only two weeks out of the water… Ah… and the stress I put on myself thinking it would be another 6 weeks out…
I don’t know if Ward Coffey is around on sways but he mentioned to me a while ago that he had this done using the same method with good results. I need to get one side done, had the other done about 10 years ago with the older drill method and it was unbelievably painful, not reccomended.
They go through the ear, but as was pointed out above - instead of cutting all the skin away, and grinding the bones, they do small slits and the chisel the growths off - look up surfers ear on line and one of the top ones is a guy from Stanford, I think, and the video was so stoking… just a few hits and the growth “pop” right off… the pull it out w/“tweezers” and that’s that… two weeks out, instead of the old six…
