in your opinion, what shapers based on the east coast make good classic longboard shapes.

maybe you should just go to a local shaper, tell him how you surf, how you want to surf, waves/location you usually surf and generally what you are looking for…i am sure you will get a nice board. where are you located?

There is a guy in Long Island who’s name I can’t recall, but he sells his stuff through Woody’s. I think his brand name is Long Island Longboards, or North East Longboards. Anyway,I bought a limited edition Velzy pig from them, and they had
a copy he had done that was very close to the original. It was marked as a tribute copy by the way; he wasn’t trying to pass it off as an original.
They also had a couple other boards he had done that looked nice. Also less
pricey than the big name guys by a couple of hundred bucks.
If you call them I’m sure they will know who you are asking about. They are real helpful.
I’m not an expert, but was VERY happy with the board Bill Frierson (VA Beach)built for me - took the time to discuss my skill level + where/what I would surf & where I wanted to go once I got better…delivered on time/as promised. Others more experienced than I have ridden it & were liking the board. Its a 10’ “classic” longboard.
My friend who lives in Jacksonville is looking to getting a noserider. I suggested he check out Austin’s boards as Austin and Troy are big guys like my friend and make sweet looking boards. I said that he should forget the *urftech stuff and get a nice, heavy, volan glassed beauty!

if you catch him when he is making a delivery they have a mobile shaping trailer where he can shape the board while you watch.
