effect of removing a nose rail edge?

I’m wondering what the effect would be of sanding smooth the edge on my board’s rails on the nose area. It’s a retro-style shortboard (actually a CI Black Beauty)that features an edge under the whole rail line from tail to nose. I’ve heard it mentioned that boards with vee incorporate rail edge, and this design certainly has vee, starting near the nose and going nearly the whole legth, disappearing at the front fins. I like vee actually. But the boards I had in the 70s had nose rail edges I associated with “catching”. What could I expect if I removed the edges with sandpaper, perhaps softening the entire front 2/3?
